Security Responsibility, Delayed Response, and Reasons Why Fayose Alleges That Makinde’s Govt Orchestrated Oyo Abduction to Blackmail Tinubu

INTRO: Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has accused the Oyo State Government of orchestrating the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in parts of Oyo State, saying it was done to “blackmail President Tinubu.” Speaking on a televised programme, Fayose questioned Governor Seyi Makinde’s handling of the crisis. 1. He stated: “I sometimes believe that the abduction at Oyo School was orchestrated by the Oyo State Government to blackmail President Tinubu.” After the kidnapping, President Tinubu “dispatched a high-powered delegation to the affected communities and assured residents that efforts were underway to secure the release of the victims.” Fayose suggested the incident was arranged to put the Federal Government on the defensive.

5. Political Considerations Allegedly Influenced State Handling: Fayose said “political considerations may have influenced its handling,” rounding out the reasons why he alleges that Makinde’s govt orchestrated Oyo abduction to blackmail Tinubu. He questioned why visible state action came only after political nominations, implying the crisis was leveraged. “No steps were taken, it was after those nominations that he went to the families to visit them,” Fayose said.


Conclusion

Neither Governor Makinde nor the Oyo State Government had responded to the allegation at the time of filing this report. The abduction has “continued to generate reactions from political stakeholders and security analysts, with renewed calls for stronger measures to tackle insecurity and protect schools across the country.”
