List of Reasons Explains the News that a Plot to Bomb Another Oil Pipeline in Rivers Was Neutralized
Security forces in Rivers State successfully prevented an attempt to bomb another oil pipeline, reinforcing their commitment to safeguarding critical infrastructure. A joint operation involving the Nigerian Police, Army, Navy, Air Force, and other security agencies thwarted the planned attack. The Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Olugbenga Adepoju, emphasized that this effort was part of a broader strategy to maintain stability in the state during the ongoing state of emergency.
The foiled attack took place at Aluu-Rumuekpe in Ikwerre Local Government Area, where a suspect attempting to detonate an explosive device on a pipeline was neutralized. Security operatives acted swiftly to prevent further damage, highlighting their proactive policing approach. The police urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to prevent future threats to public safety and economic stability.
Beyond this specific incident, security agencies have intensified operations against criminals exploiting the stateās instability. In a related operation on March 21, 2025, security forces raided a kidnappersā hideout along Omoku Road in Ahoada East LGA, arresting eight suspects and rescuing six victims. Weapons, motorcycles, and communication equipment were recovered. Additionally, on March 19, security operatives in Onelga LGA apprehended two suspects with explosive devices, including dynamites and detonating switches, preventing another potential act of sabotage.
Authorities have also intensified crackdowns on illegal refining activities. Over 30 illegal refining sites were destroyed, along with reservoirs, ovens, and dug-out pits containing stolen crude oil and illegally refined diesel. These operations aim to curb oil theft and its economic consequences.
The security agencies reiterated their commitment to protecting government assets and the lives of citizens, calling on residents to cooperate by providing intelligence on criminal activities.
