FRSC Cites Monitoring the Highway and Managing the Traffic Flow During the Eid al-Fitr as the Reason for Deploying Hundreds of Patrol Vehicles and Ambulances

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced the deployment of 754 patrol vehicles, 143 ambulances, and additional resources to monitor highways and manage traffic flow during the Eid al-Fitr celebrations. This deployment, which will run from March 27 to April 2, 2025, is aimed at minimizing road traffic crashes, fatalities, and injuries during the festive period.

According to FRSC Spokesperson Olusegun Ogungbemide, the patrol vehicles will be strategically positioned along critical routes to enforce traffic regulations, clear obstructions, and provide swift responses to emergencies. The initiative also includes 157 administrative vehicles, 48 tow trucks, and radar guns to monitor and curb speed violations. Additionally, the FRSC has set up 16 traffic control camps and is manning 53 critical routes nationwide.

The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, emphasized that the proactive deployment of these resources is essential to managing the expected surge in traffic volume and mitigating risky driving behaviors common during festive travels. He highlighted key road corridors such as Sokoto-Tambuwal-Jega-Birnin Kebbi, Katsina-Kano-Wudil-Dutse-Azare-Potiskum, and Abuja-Kaduna-Kano as focus areas for intensive monitoring.

To enhance emergency response, the 143 ambulances will be stationed at strategic locations along major highways to provide immediate medical assistance to crash victims. Roadside clinics and emergency rescue teams have also been mobilized to ensure timely intervention in case of accidents.

In collaboration with the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other relevant agencies, the FRSC has also established mobile courts to enforce traffic regulations and address violations swiftly. Motorists are encouraged to report traffic incidents and seek assistance through the FRSCā€™s toll-free helpline (122), social media platforms, and the National Traffic Radio live lines.

The FRSC urges the public to exercise caution while driving and utilize available channels to report emergencies or road safety concerns, ensuring a safer and more organized travel experience during the festive period.
